What to expect?
Are we talking about generative AI as a design machine that can knock us out as designers and deliver visual results that produce kitsch, design shiny products, naturalistic animations, hallucinatory nonsense, and automate processes that cause problems for design quality? Is it all an illusion?
In this workshop, we will turn the design process with AI upside down so that we can recognise how strongly human design can function based on our intuition. We will demystify AI in design and experience how we can enhance our creation with intelligent systems as our own design achievement above average.
With the help of a range of algorithmic techniques and craft methods, including experimental design, embodiment and processuality in design, and shaping in three-dimensional space, we will explore how we can derive functions from pure form that are hidden in our design but which we might not otherwise have recognised.
The work will be free and experimental. Technical knowledge is helpful but not a prerequisite. We will get our hands dirty, gather immersive experiences, create sculptures and animations that will be exhibited during the Luxembourg Design Festival, stage code and experience why the potential of valuable problems and fascinating questions can tell us a lot about our own design personality.
